At the 14th World Congress of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, held in Orlando, Florida, USA, from March 4–9, 2020, Dr. Efthymios Kouloulas, Physiatrist and Pain Medicine Specialist, participated as an invited speaker in an educational session alongside Dr. Steven Stanos, Director of Pain Medicine at Swedish Hospital, Seattle, Washington, USA.
Representing Greece, the city of Larissa, and the Hellenic Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, Dr. Kouloulas contributed to a distinguished presentation comparing the European and American models of pain rehabilitation and management.
Additionally, for the first time by a Greek physician, Dr. Kouloulas presented a case report on the rehabilitation of a patient with delayed tibial fracture union using Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) combined with High-Intensity Magnetic Stimulation.
This innovative case study, developed by the multidisciplinary team of the “Physiatriki” Rehabilitation Unit, was selected among the top 400 presentations out of more than 4,000 submissions worldwide, underlining the scientific merit and global recognition of this pioneering therapeutic approach.
