On Saturday, April 11, 2020, the Scientific Director of the Physiatriki Rehabilitation Unit, Dr. Efthymios Kouloulas, delivered an online lecture through the official platform of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Thessaly, due to the protective measures imposed by the CoVid-19 pandemic.
The lecture, titled “Principles of Rehabilitation in the Critically Ill Patient”, was part of the second semester curriculum of the Postgraduate Program “Management and Rehabilitation of the Critically Ill Patient.” Dr. Kouloulas emphasized the crucial role of the Physiatrist and the Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Team within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), particularly in managing complications related to immobilization (deconditioning) and ICU-Acquired Weakness Syndrome.
The presentation was widely recognized by participants for both its scientific relevance and its timeliness, given the ongoing challenges faced in ICUs nationwide during the pandemic.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Professor Epameinondas Zakynthinos, Director of the MSc Program “Management and Rehabilitation of the Critically Ill Patient,” and Associate Professor Markos Sgantzos, Program Coordinator, for their trust and the honorary invitation.
