Dr. Efthymios Kouloulas, Physiatrist – Pain Medicine Physician, participated as an invited speaker at the 13th Panhellenic Congress of Algology, held on May 12–14, 2022 in Kalamata. He contributed both in a special open discussion on the topic: “Education in Algology – Experts Speak”, highlighting the importance of certified knowledge, as he is the first – and currently the only – holder of the European Diploma in Pain Medicine in Greece, as well as with a lecture in a round table discussion on: “Exercise and Pain Management.”
The Panhellenic Congress of Algology is the leading conference in Greece where distinguished scientists from Greece and Europe, mainly anesthesiologists involved in Pain Medicine (Algology), come together. Unfortunately, Pain Medicine is still at an early stage in terms of the educational framework and physician certification in Greece.
Dr. Kouloulas was invited to share his experience regarding the examinations and the value of knowledge certification in the practice and delivery of healthcare services, especially in such a sensitive field as Pain Medicine, which internationally is practiced in a responsible, organized, and certified manner as an official medical specialty.
In his presentation on Exercise and Pain Management, Dr. Kouloulas emphasized that: “Exercise is medicine,” capable of transforming the physical, emotional, and mental state of the individual.
